So, as usual, my husband told me on Saturday (the day before Mother's Day) that he needed to run a quick errand with Annalise and would be back soon. Hmmm....I wonder what they might be up to? Our family was leaving to go out for dinner within the hour, so I knew he wouldn't be going far. In fact, he told me that he was just running up to Publix. We typically don't do much more than a card for each other on Mother's and Father's Day, so I assumed they would be picking out the perfect card (along with all the spoiling I get on Mother's Day like naps, food prepared or special restaurant treat and taking care of the kids - including temper tantrums)!
Apparently, Annalise had something up her sleeve....
Jarrett, being the wonderful husband and daddy, took pictures of Annalise making my surprise! Annalise had told Daddy she saw a sign about kids making cakes for their mom's at Publix. Jarrett had not heard of it but decided to take Annalise to the store to find out what it was all about! When they arrived, there was a pre-iced cake ready for decoration with all the fixins!!! So Annalise got to work!
Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of the finished product because the photo turned out a little too blurry! But it was beautiful and I was very surprised! She even put 3 heart shaped rings on the cake for herself, her sister, and mommy! We all wore them to church the next morning!
Here is our beautifully staged picture of us looking at the cake together!

How fun! I didn't know she did that. I love Mother's Day too. We sure do get spoiled :)
I love that she was observant enough to notice the sign at Publix. So fun when they when they are old enough to come up with their own gifts. I think it makes it that much sweeter. I'm glad you a nice Mother's Day!
Ellie picked out a card for me with flowers on it from her and she wanted to help Cory pick out his card for me. Apparently, she got confused and thought she was picking out a card for him. She got really disappointed when I was the one opening that card saying, "but that's a boy card." It had a big cartoonish fish on the front and when you open it, it has a "pop up" mermaid. It might have helped if Cory would have read to her, "Happy Mother's Day to my wife... the best catch ever." Ha! Poor thing, maybe she'll be reading next year.
Awesome!! They look like they had a fun time!! YEAH, for Jarrett!!! Send him our congrats!! Miss you!
cute cute cute! I love that they got to decorate the cakes at Publix! What a great idea... by the way... the pic of you and your girls is ADORABLE!
That is so great that she noticed the sign about the cakes and that Jarrett believed her.
Once Joe told me that Burger King was having his favorite (at the time) Hamtaro toys in their kid's meals and I didn't believe him- I thought he saw it on a commercial from a taped program at his Grandma's... Oh well, I guess that doesn't make me the worst mom, just not a great moment. I sure pay more attention to what he says now though! Kids are so great!
Love it!!! Glad they spoil you!
